After previous successful experiences, Nika contacted us to make the prototypes for a collection of functional lamps to use at the Milan Furniture Fair at Marcel Wanders’ Moooi Showroom.

The difficulty lay in creating functioning prototypes in the very fine thicknesses of the different components, especially since additive manufacturing for materials and dimensions was not available.

We made a model, a VTR (fiberglass) mould, followed by sampling in VTR, which allowed us to create these huge “bells” with a constant thickness of 2mm, while the lace perimeter was added entirely by hand.

The joints were made in the workshop, covered in stucco and modelled by craftsmen.

The same process was applied to the base and stem, the hollow metal frame was made and then all were covered and modelled.

And lastly, painting and wiring.
