TRIENNALE DI MILANO

About This Project

Company: Triennale di Milano
Product: Funcooldesign
Design: JoeVelluto Studio
Photo: Oliviero Toscani

We were asked by JoeVelluto Studio to make 5 unique pieces to interpret a mix of styles for their own sake, items charged with aesthetic style but without any stated function, “Sculptures of Design”, a social experiment to understand how users perceive items and interpret their functions based on appearance.

These pieces were displayed at the Milan Triennale, at a solo exhibition by JoeVelluto Studio, curated by Oliviero Toscani.

The items were designed and created as the model was constructed, and there was no definitive design to follow, just an idea of the result. To do this, we worked in close collaboration with the Studio and the models were made by a prototype maker/designer to be sure of having the right interpretation of the finished result.

The process involved craftsmen from different fields: smiths, carpenters, glassmakers, and decorators.

A work team to give the finished item to the client with control over the whole process and guarantee the results.
